hacks and football
sober post now after my earlier effort. actually, it wasn't that bad.
journalists. they're dumb. i was reading yesterday's paper, there was an article about the Cross of St George being everywhere at the moment. now for those of you who are unaware, today is the first day of Euro 2004, a football tournament taking place in Portugal (lovely weather for the hooligans) for the next four weeks. whenever England play in one of these tournaments, the country suddenly gets really patriotic and starts flying the flag. obviously the scottish, welsh and irish don't fly the English flag (white with a red cross like first aid) but i digress.
anyway. a journalist in the newspaper my parents read, the daily mail, wrote a double-page article on why the English are so patriotic at the moment: "Suddenly the St. George's flag is everywhere. But it's not just to do with football... its the assertation of a nation fed up with politicians destroying our identity."
mr hack, you are a fool. it is nothing to do with that, its because England are playing in a major football championship. if it was about the English identity, why were the flags not flying on St George's day? to be honest, this is no different to every tournament I can remember England playing in.
the funniest paper in this country is the sun. most commonly seen on the dashboards of white vans around the country and being read by working class males, it is the only thing that Inkysoso has ever known to use the word "romp" in the sexual term. it would not describe Inkysoso as "librarian Inkyoso", dear god no. because she has blonde hair. even if she was a munter (which she's not, she's the only person i'd rate as 10/10), she would still have the same description: "sexy blonde librarian Inkysoso". as anyone who reads mediawatch on F365 would know, every day they have an EXCLUSIVE story, which has usually appeared in a different paper the day before.
enough ranting for now. today hosts portugal play greece at 5pm, followed by neighbours spain playing russia at 7:45pm. my predictions for our work sweepstake sees portugal beat greece 3-1 and spain beat the ruskies 2-1.
